Lucas James Dowell, 38, was on his way home to Gundagai on Tuesday night when he never arrived.
His rolled ute was found at sun up by a passing motorist just after 8am on Wednesday.
He was the sole occupant.
Family and friends have flooded social media with an outpouring of grief at the loss of such a loving and capable man, and tears especially for his partner, Kerrie, and their six-year-old son and daughter twins, who adored him.
Known as Luke by his loved ones, he was born and bred in Gundagai and has been with his soulmate Kerrie, from Harden, for 17 years after they met as teenagers and fell in love.
A relative said the family is in shock at the loss of someone who was such a big part of their lives.
“He was a good guy who worked hard and loved his kids, who he called his diamonds,” he said.
“Life is going to be tougher now, but we’re a strong family and we will do everything we can to support Kerrie and the kids as Luke would want us to.”
Police have launched an investigation into the accident, which they describe as “absolutely tragic”.
More to come.
