The robbery has rocked an otherwise quiet precinct, and local businesses have expressed sorrow that Mr Bert was targeted, claiming he is a hard-working and friendly businessman.
Police have launched an investigation and are asking for public help to catch the culprit and return the bike.
“I got a call at 4.30am from my security company saying the alarm had gone off, and I went down to the shed to find my front door had been pulled open and I was missing my dirt bike,” a disappointed Terace Bert said.
Peter Wolf from 12 Volt Solutions said the thieves also tried to break into his business next door.
‘They put a bar in my door. They put a bar in my gate last night, but we were lucky,” Mr Wolf said.
Neighbouring businesses have denounced the robbery, claiming Mr Bert is a hard-working and friendly businessman who didn’t deserve to have his workshop targeted by thieves.
The Appliance Man several doors up offered Mr Bert CCTV footage in the hope police could make an arrest.
