The 17-year-old is excited by the chance at joining the strong US college system.
“I can’t wait,” Staines said.
“Honestly it can’t come soon enough.
“I think it is going to be a great experience and is going to be awesome for my tennis.”
If all goes to plan, she’s set to fly out to the States in early January, when tennis training starts, before courses start later in the month.
She will also study accountancy while there.
“As well as doing full-time tennis I'm going to be studying accounting,” Staines said.
“It is something different but it is something that I enjoy.”
With the weather slowly warming up, so too is the Australian tennis circuit.
Staines is looking to play in a couple of Pro Tour events in Brisbane, which co-incides with younger brother Josh playing in the under 17s cricket national championships.
The 17-year-old will play at events in Brisbane and Toowoomba in late September and early October.
She has also penciled in a crack at the Australian Open wildcard play-offs before jetting off to America.
After an elbow injury slowed her down earlier in the year, Staines is happy with how her body is.
“I’m fit and healthy again and cross fingers I don’t have any more injuries throughout the year,” she said.
