Joy Huggins, the assistant manager at Bargain Buy in Baylis Street, has noticed that parents this year are looking to keep it simple.
“Harry Potter has been very popular again and lots of parents are still looking for Frozen items,” Ms Huggins said.
And with so many piratical options from Captain Hook to Captain Jack Sparrow, those scourges of the seven seas are a perennial favourite.
But what about those children who are looking for something a little different this year?
“We had one parent come in to see if we had a costume for Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad,” Ms Huggins said.
