Mr Meredith reluctantly agreed to take part in the Stepping On program, but is now a fan.
“It’s fabulous, terrific,” he said. Mr Meredith not only now encourages other hospital patients to consider the program, but has found what he learned saved him from a nasty fall after his took a misstep outside a Wagga store.
Gwen Baumer got help with vertigo, while Diane Millward has found it’s easier to deal with ongoing back problems since completing the program.
The Wagga Stepping On group runs for two hours each week for seven weeks, with a refresher session two months later.
“The program helps older people maintain independence and give them confidence in their mobility so they are able to undertake their everyday activities safely and without the risk of falling,” said rehabilitation co-ordinator Sally McMahon, who can be contacted on 6938 6221.
