Originally slated for a July 2017 release, Roads and Maritime Services revealed the draft report will not be available until later this year.
The hold-up has infuriated residents in Springvale, Gregadoo and Rowan, who are anxiously awaiting the findings.
“It sounds like nothing, but this report could hold the future of our livelihoods,” Melissa Parke said.
“Hopefully the late release means there will be lots of research put in.
“Everybody pushing for a bypass isn’t sparing a thought for all the people who live on the proposed path.”
According to Committee 4 Wagga’s (C4W) Strategic Plan, the southern bypass route through Springvale and Forest Hill would reduce the city’s heavy vehicle traffic by 70 per cent.
When asked if there had been any findings, RMS provided the following statement:
“Roads and Maritime Services is progressing the final stages of the draft Sturt Highway Corridor Strategy for internal review and approvals,” the spokesperson said.
“A final draft is expected to be available later this year.”
It sounds like nothing, but this report could hold the future of our livelihoods.
