Turvey Park will be coming off a four week recess while the Aces proved too strong for the CSU Reddies in last Saturday’s match, winning 68-37.
Turvey Park realise they’re in for a tough encounter, but how they perform against the Aces will be a good measure of their improvement.
Sara Schneider has been a strength in the GD position for Turvey and she and fellow custodian, Jaimee Smith, are certainly performing their roles well each week.
Sisters, Teagan and Kira Hallam, have a physical presence and can cause turnovers by their commitment to win the ball.
Sherrene Thompson and Amanda Gooden add experience to Turvey and can play in either attack or defence, while shooters, Nicky Gallagher and Morgan Watts, if they convert their opportunities are capable of netting a winning score.
The Aces continue to have good service from their long-time players Rachael Addison, Lisa Reynoldson, Lisa Frow, Emma Kleine and Tracy Schulz-Cole which has shown the way to their younger players in Abbey Corbett, Rhiannon Podmore, Mikaela Cole and Flynn Hogg.
The latter has probably earned the tag of the season’s most valuable recruit, as, with her shooting prowess, she is an ideal partner for the seasoned Frow.
New Kids deservedly start favourites for the match, but Turvey Park has the potential to cause an upset.
In the other A grade match on Saturday, Shooting Stars meet the CSU Reddies.
The availability of players in the makeup of these two teams could well determine the result.
The Stars were missing key players in their last round loss to Uranquinty, while the Reddies had several regulars missing from their team in their big loss to the Aces.
If both teams were to have their entire squads available, the Stars will start the match favourites based on their 14 goal win in their previous meeting with the Reddies.
Expect the Cusack twins, Brianne and Alannah, goal attack, Hannah Williams and utility player, Maddie Moon to standout for the Reddies.
The Stars will look to feed from Brodie Jaques, Hayley Stevens and Bridgette Dill into the circle where Jemima Norbury and Katie Caller should be able to convert a winning score.
