Wagga police were out in force at pubs and clubs across the weekend as part of Operation Barb. The operation targeted “nonsense” and “bad behaviour” of anyone intoxicated in and around licensed premises.

“We had 10 police deployed and 24 licensed premises patrolled,” acting inspector Maggie Deall said.
During the searches, a knife and drugs were located and seized. Nine people were searched, 10 patrons were asked to “move along” and four infringement notices were handed out.
Inspector Deall said drugs and alcohol were often factors in crimes police investigated.
She said the impaired judgement of those intoxicated played a big part in their choices and their actions.
“People need to be responsible,” she said.
“Don’t ruin your own night or anyone else’s by getting carried away.”
