Details of horrific allegations against Queensland shearer Alan Colin McDonald were read out by magistrate Brian Van Zuylen during a bail application on Monday.
It is alleged 46-year-old McDonald, of Charleville, assaulted the woman at Ivanhoe on June 16.
He was apprehended in Wagga on June 18.
McDonald is charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm, intentionally choking a person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening an apprehended violence order.
McDonald’s solicitor, Jim Allen, said his client told him he wanted to strenuously deny the allegations. But police prosecutor, Sergeant Priscilla Jones, said the case against McDonald was strong.
Mr Van Zuylen refused the bail application and adjourned the case to Deniliquin Local Court on July 3.
