Read today's entry from Harry Gissing's 1914-18 war diaries

January 4, 1918

Did not wake until 10 o’clock. Had a stroll round Glasgow in the afternoon, the streets being packed with people all in a holiday mood. Most of the factories had closed down for repairs over the holidays, and there were also a lot of visitors in the city. At night we went to a Music Hall, but it was second-rate after the London shows. Enjoying my stay very much.
