Northern Jets coach Mitch Robinson couldn’t speak highly enough of Sam Fisher on Saturday night, after a six-star performance against Barellan ensured the Jets’ first win of the season.

Despite dislocating his elbow two weeks ago, Fisher maintained he was right to return and play full-forward.
And he walked the walk, finishing with six goals as the Jets overcame their local rivals 16.8 (104) to 10.11 (71) at Ardlethan.
“He had a brilliant game,” Robinson said.
“He told me during the week he was right to go and I took his word for it.
“If he says he’s right, I’m going to believe him. He’s a quality player but he really proved it today.”
Robinson was full of praise for the Two Blues who put them under plenty of pressure early.
“They come out and led us to the ball in the first quarter, and they were hard at it up until half-time. we had to change things a bit,” he said.
“They’ll definitely trouble a few sides this year.”
With Matt Irvin and Canberra recruits Mal Fernie and Matt Wells having big games, Barellan held a two-point lead after the first term and were only two goals down at half-time.
But the Jets found their range in the third quarter, to go seven goals in front on the way to the 33-point win.
“We were a bit hungrier (after half-time) and we made a lot of tackles to help turn things around,” he said.
“It was definitely good to get win number one on the board. We’ve got a couple of big weeks coming up with Temora, then CSU. If we can get a couple of wins, we’ll be well-placed before we have a double bye.”
