James Devlin led the way for the Steamers at Murrayfield, scoring 19 points in the 34-12 win.
After taking a narrow win over CSU to start the season, coach Paul Mussara thought Albury were again better.
“It was a good win,” Mussara said.
“It was an improved effort definitely in every facet.
“We gave away a few penalties at the end of the first half that I wasn’t happy with, just being lazy at the ruck, but other than that our phase play was a little improved, our defence out wide was better as well, so we improved where we need to.”
After playing at halfback against Reddies, Devlin shifted to fullback to take on the Blacks.
Mussara believes it’s a position that he will stay in.
“It’s probably where I’m looking at playing him,” he said. “He’s the sort of player who, at this level, could play anywhere from nine, 10, 12, 13 or 15.
“He’s a pretty classy player.”
