Anzac Day, when Australia was born a nation. Two years since the landing on the Peninsula. Weather still fine. Played the 8th Field football, and beat them 7 to nil, very hard game; went into Albert to see match. Had a drive in the old Ford and went in to collect drugs at the depot in Albert. Very strict on saluting there now, as it is Army Headquarters and passes signed by the A.P.M. are necessary to get in. I do not blame them for insisting on the salute, ‘tis really the outward and visible sign of discipline when out of the line and most necessary, in fact. I believe in being regimental. Scored my mail to-day, but not from home.
