Deputy Dean of CSU's Faculty of Science Lyndall Angel said enrolment numbers have decreased from previous years but students were still considering offers.
“It’s a little down for Wagga but the enrollments are still progressing,” Ms Angel said.
“In our health areas – in medical radiation science, nursing and oral health therapy – enrolments are really strong.
“Agricultural science and agricultural business management is also strong and growing.
“Oral health therapy in particular has been a great opportunity for people to work at the dental clinic at Wagga.”
Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science topped the list with 100 enrolled students.
Animal Science has 75 students enrolled while Agricultural Science has 70 students.
Oral Health, Veterinary Science and Veterinary Biology all have 50 enrolled students.
Ms Angel said the facilities have kept Wagga’s CSU among students’ top preferences.
“The facilities, the clinics and the National Life Science Hub are continuing to attract students with a science focus,” Ms Angel said.
“They also attract our academics, without which the courses would not be possible.”
Ms Angel said while on campus numbers are slightly down, overall the universities numbers are up, with 8700 new students across all campuses.
In combination with continuing students, Wagga will host 3000 students on campus.
“The numbers are pleasing and they have a significant impact on the vibrancy of our campus and the Wagga community,” Ms Angel said.
Ms Angel said the demographic of enrolling students remains predominately regional.
At the other end of the scale, there are 24 international students enrolled at Wagga’s campus this year.
“There are a lot of regional students but we do also have a lot of people who want the change and want to move further away from home,” Ms Angel said.
“International students are really exciting for other students who have the opportunity to learn more about different cultures and countries.” People can still apply to study at CSU until February 24.
