The cold, hard facts
I HAVE watched the debacle about the new rehabilitation facility in Gurwood Street unfold over the last year, and I can’t help but wonder why opponents of such a facility, who base their opinion on bigotry and uninformed personal views, are given so much air time and consideration when in fact the council should be considering evidence and facts.

A quick search of the literature on this topic shows that that crime rates and violence around drug treatment facilities are no higher than around an average clothes store.
In fact, crime rates around pubs and liquor stores are 38 per cent higher than those around convenience stores or drug treatment facilities.
So it is pubs and liquor stores you should be opposing, not a drug treatment facility which is trying to ease the alcohol and drug problem in Wagga.

A dose of perspective
TO ALL who are inclined to complain about whatever and to be jealous of the rich and the super-rich.
Hands up those of you who have:
- Clean water available from a tap;
- Are connected to electricity;
- Have more than one room to live in;
- Have a bed to sleep in.
If you can tick all four you belong to the top 5 per cent in the world who are so exceptionally well off.
This means 95 per cent of the people in the world think of you as being rich or super-rich.
Think about this when you complain about your situation, and don’t sling off at people who are better off than you are.
Feel happy when you can give to an appeal for help and count all your blessings.

Bleeding hearts trumped
WHAT a victory for America, out with the old elite-driven career politicians and into a common sense reality.
Already, Donald Trump has given unisex toilets in schools the flick along with other nonsense Americans didn’t approve of any more than we do here.
They will now be able to regain and rebuild what is rightfully theirs and safeguard their taxpayers dollars.
Now this is what should be happening here - our people’s needs first (not last as they currently are).
The United Nations has been allowed too much clout that dictates to those nations signed onto it what they can and can’t do with their own nation's money.
This is absolutely absurd.
Billions of dollars left America and crippled its industry to a grinding halt.
Exactly the same thing is happening here.
It’s time to halt the bleeding hearts.
We should have less newcomers dragging on our already weakened economy and more investment on those already here.
We should be filtering out the terrorist-orientated mischief-makers before they get a deeper hold in our society.
We should stop pandering to these unsavoury criminal elements who infiltrate countries worldwide and cause more trouble than what the help they are given is worth.
I’m sick and tired of all the bleating from the bleeding hearts about the US election.
Donald Trump is in control whether they like it or not, time to get over it and grow up.
After all, President Trump wasn't elected to win a popularity poll with the masses but rather to give back.
Until they get the message that like America, people power here, next time around, will no longer be sat on by political correctness or minority groups or allowed to ride shotgun over our rights, they will continue to be in the wilderness.
We won't have short memories
