The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) wanted to speak the language of the younger generation – hip hop – to raise awareness about vaccinations.
The project has drawn some big names but they have enlisted kids to write the words.
Rahj Jordan from LPS Productions and hip hop artist Nooky spent time with Wagga children yesterday to construct song lyrics for an awareness video about the importance of getting vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV).
“Once we started writing, it was amazing,” Mr Jordan said.
“Every kid brought something to the table.”
The project is an initiative from MLHD Aboriginal immunisation health worker, Leanne Sanders.
“Leanne realised many youth do not recognise the importance of being vaccinated and proposed the hip hop video as a way of reaching them,” MLHD director public health Tracey Oakman said.
The sound will be recorded tomorrow and the video will be filmed on January 24.
