Sporting organisations, social groups and businesses celebrated the festive season with the Christmas Party Races on Saturday.
“It’s become a very popular race day in recent years,” MTC chief executive officer Scott Sanbrook said.
“It’s one of the social highlights of the summer racing calendar and it’s capped off a strong period leading into the new year.”
More than 1250 people, an increase on last year, enjoyed the racing from 12 marquees.
Children were entertained with slushies, face painting and a jumping castle.
“It showed that everybody got into the spirit of the occasion,” he said.
“It’s a family-friendly event.”
