Magpies coach Michael Mazzocchi yesterday said the Farrer League club is in talks with two quality players and hopes to put pen to paper in the next few days.
"These two guys, if we get them, will be in our top three or four players," Mazzocchi said.
"One of them has pretty much already committed but just has to tell his club, and I'm confident the other one will sign soon as well.
"When we get these two I should have a better squad than last season.
"I should know by the end of the week."
Mazzocchi was reluctant to release specifics but did say one of the players is from Wagga, while the other will join the Magpies from outside the local competitions.
The two signings will join young utility Ted Fellows who joined TRYC last week, crossing from Wagga Tigers to play with the Farrer League grand finalist.
Mazzocchi hopes to play Fellows in a key position but says he can also use his pace running off a wing or provide another midfield rotation.
Luke Brooks has also joined TRYC after moving to Wagga from Finley where he played first grade, and is expected to slot into the Magpies' defensive line.
Mazzocchi says while he is rapt with the signings so far his main goal was to retain the 2012 playing list and promote some of the club juniors to senior football.
"I would've been happy to keep the same group plus add four or five juniors to it," he said. "But these couple of other guys signing on will be great.
"After the grand final I really focused on getting around the current players and getting them all on board for next season.
"There are a couple still up in the air but we should keep the majority of that squad."
Mazzocchi is looking forward to giving young talent such as Harry White, Jordan Kemp and Zac Wood who has rejoined the club from Lockhart plenty of first grade experience.
Star midfielder Dale Hugo has stepped down as assistant coach but will stay on as a player.
Dave Pieper will act as assistant coach next season.
