Glue guns at the ready, it is Book Week.
Parents are increasing their bedazzling game as they ensure their children have the best costumes come parade day.
Elaborate costumes, props and face painting have emerged at parades and Christian College principal Hugh MacCallum said it is a celebration of literature.
“A love of reading is an immeasurable treasure,” he said.
“We love the focus that Book Week gives us.”
Wagga City Library programs team leader, Christine Bolton, said Book Week is a time to highlight the benefits of reading actual books.
“Especially with picture books, they are such a tactile item, it’s much better to be handling it,” she said.
