Opera Australia’s The Marriage of Figaro is the next show in the Civic Theatre’s subscription season and it’s been sold out for some time now. But don’t abandon hope, a handful of tickets may become available early in the week. Contact the Box Office to put your name on a waiting list.
Award-winning creative duo Michael Gow and Robert Kemp have created a brand new production, featuring stunning period costumes and a clever set. A talented chamber orchestra and chorus of local children will accompany some of Opera Australia's finest singers performing Mozart’s beautiful music. The local children’s chorus have been working hard under the musical direction of Judy Gollasch. The children attend a range of public schools across the Riverina and this is a really exciting opportunity for them.
This opera tells the story of a wealthy household in Seville, Figaro is marrying Susanna, but the Count wants to seduce her first. Marcellina wants Figaro and the Countess just wants her husband back. But Susanna is smarter than all of them. After a crazy day of disguise and duplicity, will she get her happily ever after?
It’s a comic masterpiece, a delightful night out and is suitable for the whole family.
This beautiful production will hit the Civic Theatre stage on Saturday, July 30 at 7.30pm. It will be sung in English and performed with a chamber orchestra. If you’re interested in seeing the show please contact 6926 9688.

Jade Hurley: A Man and His Piano
“JADE Hurley is the greatest country rock performer Australia has ever produced.” - Johnny Cash
A free cup of tea on a cold morning, a delicious biscuit and some red, hot, foot tapping, country rock music: it’s a cracking deal.
Make sure you organise your life around Thursday, August 18 so you can see Jade Hurley at this special daytime concert.
Jade’s show is part of our Silver Circle Concert Series. It’s quality entertainment for those who prefer to see shows during the day.
The free morning tea is served from 10am and the show kicks off at 11am.
Jade Hurley OAM was given the title “Australia’s King of Country Rock” by the late, great Johnny O’Keefe and has certainly lived up to that prestigious title.
In America, Jade was billed as a cross between Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, and Liberace. Jerry Lee, because of his energetic piano antics like jumping all over his piano and kicking the keys with his feet.
Little Richard, because just like Richard, Jade Hurley always makes a great and controversial headline and Liberace, because of his flamboyant and glittery sequin stage outfits.
Every album this unique “piano pumping/country rocker” has recorded has achieved gold, platinum, or double platinum status.
You’ll hear the music of Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny O’Keefe, Elvis Presley, Jim Reeves and more.
All tickets for this performance are $22 and can be booked online at www.civictheatre.com.au or by phoning the Civic Theatre on 6926 9688.
