Wagga’s ‘holey war’
AFTER reading the recent complaints about potholes, I wondered to myself who is going to pay the extra council staff to drive around looking for potholes?

Or where is the money going to come from if council pay for the repair bills to the cars?
Most councils are operating a budget deficit at the moment, which is why council amalgamations are being forced on us.
Councils don’t have money. They take it from the ratepayers or they rely on state and federal for grants.
We have had a few wet months but I imagine global warming caused that, not the council.
Don’t drive so fast that you can’t slow down before the pothole and if a truck hits you from behind, they will have to pay for being too close.
I wish people would understand the public purse is their money. It is not just photocopied for free; it is taken from someone’s hard-earned.
The mayor stated the potholes are normally fixed within a day or two once they know about them so I suggest we give council a bit of help and report them.

Late mail disgrace
I RECEIVED a letter today from a friend in Sydney.
It was posted on June 5 and has only taken eight weeks! How is that for prompt service?

Snail bait barking mad
ON MONDAY morning television, a story came on about snail racing. Just wondering what they do with the slow ones?

New angle on parking
THE business owners of Fitzmaurice Street are rightly concerned about parking for their customers.
Removal of the median strip is probably not the solution as it provides a safe haven for pedestrians crossing the street and it enhances the beauty of the area.
Removal of the median strip would probably cost as much as a multi-level car park.
These structures are not cheap to build with each space costing between $18,000 to $21,000 at a minimum, depending on whether you want an elevator or not.
Would a short-term solution be to have angle parking in Kincaid and Crampton streets?
The increased parking spaces in Kincaid Street would at least help cater for the customers to the new Italian restaurant and it is not too far to walk to Fitzmaurice.

No Ray or reason
RAY, Ray, Ray (Ray’s Reason, DA, July 5).
That’s the problem with your type in the world, you have your head buried in the sand?
Do you not see what the Muslims have done around the world?
We are being forced into "tolerance" to the very peril of our culture. Australians don’t hate Muslims.
The whole world hates Muslims, and Muslims hate Australian values.
Donald Trump is the furthest thing from a typical politician and that may be just what the world needs.
God knows the last couple of decades of politics has seen the undermining of Christian values and even if you're not religious, you have had the benefit of moral strength that comes with it.
Get it through your thick heads, Muslims want Muslim values.
They don’t respect our values and if we keep up the political correctness crap we will all be second rate citizens.
