Metal fabrication and welding head teacher Phil Angel had an emotional retirement this week after a 37-year affiliation with TAFE.
“Since I left school, I have had something to do with TAFE, and I’m about to turn 60,” he said.
“I’ve either been studying a course or teaching part-time or full-time, so TAFE is nearly my middle name.
“When I signed my resignation form, it just sat there for a while and I couldn’t send it off because I realised it would be all over.”
Mr Angel was 22 when he first began teaching welding in February 1979, at what was then known as Wagga Technical College.
