Driven to distraction
IT’S strange that every time the lunacy of the Peter and Morgan streets roundabout is reported, it's as if it's the first time someone has recognised the madness that resides in this aspect of council's mandate.

In mid-February, I lodged a formal complaint online with council about the crazy changes that made a "left only" left hand lane in Morgan Street at the Best Street roundabout.
My complaint suggested that creating a "slalom" through the roundabout for the majority of Morgan Street traffic, which would want to be in the left lane for the turn at Peter Street, was poo-pooed by the council employee who responded to me by phone.
There's the rub. Your report (DA, May 28) says that "traffic committee members ... could not recall any major incidents" at the roundabout.
That's completely opposite to what the council employee told me. I was told there had been "25 side-swipe type accidents there in the last five years".
But now I'm asking why Cr Paul Funnell seems to have been told one thing but I was told something completely different – both responses can't both be true.
So who's being told lies by this committee: Council itself or a mug ratepayer?

Why I’m voting ‘no’
SO, WE are going to have a vote to decide if we recognise our Aboriginal people in our Australian Constitution.
Sounds good, so why would we be concerned about it?
You can call me a Doubting Thomas if you wish, but as the situation stands at present, I will be voting against the matter.
What would I be voting for?
My explanation is very simple, what would the words mean and how will they be interpreted if they are in the Constitution?
I have some very good friends of Aboriginal heritage and they also want to know what the words will mean. Are they going to be satisfied with mere tokenism?
Will we create two distinct peoples of Australians to compete against each other?
Will the “sorry industry” mob create more demands and laws to divide our nation?
I know it all sounds like repetition, but it is the same situation with so-called gay marriage; what will happen if we vote in favour?

Stop the gender benders
LADIES, do you know that in the future we will be required to use the gents toilet as our gender is in question.
I certainly would not feel comfortable with using the gents toilet – would you?
Did you know that certain political parties plan bringing in legislation in the future – if they are elected – which challenges our gender?
I choose to believe my bible, which states in Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them”.
Did you also know that this gender confusion is already being taught in some NSW state schools under the Safe Schools Program, which was introduced into some schools as an anti-bullying program. However, it consists of dangerous teaching for young, innocent minds.
Our little, vulnerable schoolchildren are being taught that there is a “gender fairy” who flits around and they can be a girl today and a boy tomorrow, hence the need for toilets that are marked “girls” and “boys” will no longer be necessary. They can come to school dressed as a boy or a girl, according to their whim. It is the most dangerous indoctrination that has ever been introduced into our schools.
What kind of nation will we have in the future.
