Coach Josh Hamilton has plenty of concerns about consistency after the Blues were held scoreless in the second quarter and outscored in the last term on the way to a 10.7 (67) to 7.10 (52) victory.
“It was pretty much up and down all day,” Hamilton said.
“We started well, then we fell away and we started well again in the second half and fell away.”
That said, there was a bit to like about the Blues’ effort, including big games again from midfielders Shaun Light and Mitch Carroll.
The goals were shared around with Jacob Breed, Graham O’Connell and Simon Mackie all kicking two.
Mackie, as a leading option, and Brandon Mathews both presented strong targets up forward.
But Hamilton was most happy with their defensive effort, where Tony Pound shut down Jets’ danger man Josh Plozza, who spent the whole game up forward.
Coleambally are third but yet to face the top two teams.
However, Hamilton said they’re starting to settle after the return of key players.
“Having those couple of experienced guys like Shane Pound and Graham O’Connell back has helped, they bring a bit of composure.”
The Jets’ fourth loss in six games makes their next game against Marrar – after next week’s representative bye – a critical one.
For the second week in a row, Chris Bell, Andrew Bonny and Brad Moye were the pick of the Jets.
