The Magpies arrived in Wagga for the NAB Challenge match against North Melbourne carrying the confidence of a competition heavyweight.
“I think if we play the way we want to play and we play to our capabilities, we can beat anyone,” midfielder Levi Greenwood said.
The Robertson Oval game will be Greenwood’s first against the Kangaroos after departing at the end of 2014.
“It’ll be interesting going out there, I’ve been really busy this week and I’ve had a lot to work on from last week so I haven’t had much time to think about it,” he said.
Greenwood moved to Collingwood in career-best form, after averaging 25 touches in 22 games in his last season with the Roos.
Injury restricted him to eight games last year, but Greenwood is confident he can find the form to lock down his spot in a team with plenty of midfield options.
“Yeah, I am. This is probably the best pre-season I’ve had in the past four or five years, so in terms of my fitness and my body holding together I’m feeling really, really confident,” he said.
Amid predictions of 38C, the 27-year old played down concerns about the heat.
“It’s actually not too bad here. It was pretty hot in Melbourne and we’re prepared for it, we’ve done a little bit of training for it.” he said.
“Hopefully it’s not too hot that it’s uncomfortable to play but hopefully they’ll adjust the game if it does get a little bit too hot for us.”
