The star midfielder thought he’d sprained the ankle in a waterskiing mishap two days before Christmas but X-rays revealed two breaks and meant Christmas Eve – his birthday – was spent in surgery.
“I’m not having a good run but things happen for a reason,” Absolum said.
“Might be a good thing and make me have a break.”
Absolum – who suffered an Achilles injury late last year – doesn’t anticipate playing any practice matches but says he’ll be ready for round one against The Rock-Yerong Creek on April 9.
