The Press Council has sanctioned the Courier Mail for its controversial “Bride and Seek” headline used in the aftermath of the disappearance of Leeton schoolteacher Stephanie Scott.
The newspaper published the headline after Ms Scott’s disappearance but before her body had been discovered and it had been confirmed she was murdered.
The Press Council found the headline was “substantially offensive” to many people and breached its standards of practice.
