The defending premiers of the women’s premier league touch football competition lost a few players in the off-season and are in the rebuilding phase.
While most teams are self-coached and slot in some light training a few minutes before the game, the AKW Jets have recruited five young players and keen to improve their skills, training on Wednesday nights.
The highlight so far for captain Cath Salmon was witnessing the new team gel.
“We have a new bunch of girls that all get on really well, it’s inspiring,” Salmon said.
Armed with the expertise of National Touch League coach Kevin Salmon, the girls anticipate a great season ahead.
So far they have lost just one of four games to competition leaders Don Tuckwells Audio, and won the other three games convincingly.
According to Salmon players to watch are Anna Ryan, Vienna Randall, Abbey Corbett, Rhiannon Podmore, Sarah Hogan and Claudia Obst.
