VISITORS should be prepared for some stiff competition from the locals when the $10,000 City of Wagga Open is held at the Wagga Country Club this weekend.
It may be a busy weekend with the AFL and NRL grand finals but 200 players will hit the golf course on Saturday and Sunday as part of the City of Wagga Open tournament.
Not only will prizemoney and prestige on offer, but the winner will automatically book a place in the field for the NSW Open in November.
More than 30 golfers from outside the region will travel to Wagga in a bid to win the event but Wagga Country Club captain Steve Childe is confident a number of locals will be in contention.
Henry Brind, Kurt Burns and Jarrod Meacham are just a few of the names expected to give the visitors a run for their money.
Burns has returned home to Wagga from Bonnie Doon to play in the tournament.
