WAGGA RSL bowlers Robbie Marshall and Max Sanbrook have taken out the Men’s Medley Pairs Tournament on Saturday.
Wagga RSL Bowling Club’s Springtime Festival of Bowls got underway with a full compliment of 24 teams turning out for four matches of pairs variation.
In a close finish, the winners had to be decided by shorts gained after two teams finished level with three and a half wins and a margin of 29 shots each.
That left Garry Brooks and Jeff Post in second place.
Mark Pearce and John Hetherington were third, with Ron Smith and Brian Lawrence fourth.
Wagga RSL Bowling Club publicity officer Brian Lawrence said the tournament proved a winner.
“The tournament proved a great success with teams coming from several clubs around the Riverina and will again be held next year,” Lawrence said.
The second event in the festival is the $10,000 Classic Fours next weekend.
