Wagga’s bid to become the new home for the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is still alive.
Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce confirmed the government was continuing to pursue a move for the department out of Canberra last week.
“The GRDC itself has put forward a plan to us and we’re making sure we pursue it,” Mr Joyce said.
“I’ve made my decision, we are going to be moving these departments out (of Canberra) and now we’re going about that process of doing precisely that.
“Obviously in the last week or so, things have been a little febrile – you might have seen that on the news – but work goes on and we’re back at work making sure this process continues.”
A final decision on the location of the GRDC is expected to be announced by the end of the year.
