But it won’t be the Wagga Beach of days gone by. The wine producer will tap into the city’s foodie culture for the inaugural Cork & Fork Fest next month – and hopes it will lead to a revival of the much-loved riverside spot.
The Taste Riverina Festival community event sees the roll-out of picnic rugs down at the beach from 6pm on October’s Friday nights. Adding to the vibe will be live entertainment and a host of pop-up shops.
“This is all about getting the community back to the beach,” Mr McMullen said.
“In most places, the beach and the river is the heart and soul of the city. Ours is sort of hidden, but it’s just such a wonderful area.”
