COUNCILLOR COMPLAINT HAS AN EERIE REFRAIN ABOUT IT
IN THE Council News councillor column on August 15, Cr Kevin Poynter commenced by stating: “There are moments in life as a councillor where it becomes painfully clear that no one is actually listening to what you are saying.”

I sympathise with Cr Poynter as there are moments in life as a ratepayer where it becomes painfully clear that no one is actually listening to what you are saying.
I wrote to Kevin as a ratepayer and several other councillors many months ago concerning assistance for the elderly and guess what, not one councillor had the manners not the courtesy to reply.
I have also written on other occasions to our councillors, again receiving no replies.
So Kev, I know exactly how you feel.

LEFT REVEALS ITS DOUBLE STANDARD ON GAY MARRIAGE
WELL, the shrieks from the left wing progressives would have us all believe that a 50-50 gender balance in our parliament would be good for the government of our country.
Not too many people would argue with that.
A fairer, less hostile environment would result, ensuring government policy would be nicer more caring and even loving.
Why is it then that these same progressive thinkers say we don't need a 50-50 gender balance in families?
Do they hate the traditional family?
Do they hate children?
Do they hate themselves?
The one thing we do know is they hate with a capital H anyone with a point of view different to theirs.
Anyone who sticks up their head to tell the truth will be maligned and pilloried.
How did the traditional view of marriage as it has been for eons become so appalling that anyone expressing support for it could be persecuted?
We will reap what we sow if marriage is redefined.

TAKE CHECKOUT COMPLAINTS STRAIGHT TO THE TOP
INSTEAD of writing letters to this or any other newspapers in regard to self service checkouts and unopened checkouts, I would suggest that those who do not like the system: a) write to the company concerned, and b) ask to speak to the store manager and complain about unopened checkouts and if necessary the long lines at the few checkouts that may be open.
You may achieve something that you will never achieve by making comments in regional newspapers.

SAME-SEX UNIONS OK, BUT DON’T CALL IT MARRIAGE
TO YOU guy and girls out there who want to be recognised in same-sex unions, that’s ok. But come up with a different word than “marriage”, as that’s between a man and a woman.

ERIN EARTH A GREAT ASSET TO WAGGA RESIDENTS
THE people of Wagga and district are very fortunate to have Erin Earth in the city.
The site, in Kildare Avenue, is a great place to learn about sustainability, using and growing native plants, gardening tips and creating bird habitats to name just a few learning opportunities.
It is also a serene environment with lovely places to sit and relax, listen to the frogs in the pond; observe the birds and in general enjoy the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
