Trekking for 10 days through rugged terrain has given Laura Dick and Robert Heath a new outlook on life.

The sun shone down on the Kokoda Track as the two Wagga residents took an emotional and physical journey thanks to sponsorship from the RSL Club.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but until you’ve done it you don’t realise how life-changing it is,” Miss Dick said.
Mr Heath’s grandfather served in Bougainville in Papua New Guinea and he said it was a surreal first-hand account of his family’s history.
A typical day involved waking at 4.45am to have breakfast and start walking by 6.30am before stopping anywhere between 3pm and 5pm.
Walkers were given plenty of rest breaks and told stories and poems by their leader.
