But the former Temora boy is using his rural roots to support Australian Wool Innovation’s Fibre of Football campaign.
The campaign highlights the long-standing relationship between the wool industry and country football.
“I grew up in country NSW having that strong connection between football and the wool industry,” Breust said.
Breust was approached by a representative at Moses and Son Wool Brokers in Temora about being in AWI’s campaign.
There is a strong representation of country players in the Hawthorn team and Breust said plenty of quality AFL players have haled from the Riverina.
“The campaign shows people how important the wool industry is to Australia and keeping country football alive,” he said.
Breust said when the farming industry is thriving, football season runs smoothly in the country.
The industry has provided the material for to make AFL merchandise from quality wool products.
AWI filmed a video recently at Breust’s family farm 35 kilometres outside of Temora and will be released in the coming weeks.
