CASHED-UP with drug money and cruising along the Sturt Highway with amphetamines in the boot of his BMW, Sydney man Bland Hassan Saleh must have felt sick in the stomach when pulled over by Wagga highway patrol police near Yarragundry.
His worst fears were realised when police found $20,000 in bundles of $50 and $100 in the car’s glovebox and discovered 856.6 grams of amphetamine in the boot.
Police decided to search the car following radio checks on 23-year-old Saleh, of Northmead, after he was pulled over about 11.15am on October 15 last year.
Their suspicions were further aroused when they spotted three vanilla-scented air fresheners dangling in the luxury car.
In Wagga District Court last Friday, Judge Stephen Norrish sentenced Saleh to five years and three months in jail, with a non-parole period of two years and six months, for supplying a prohibited drug greater than the commercial quantity.
