MORE than 30mm of rain fell throughout the Riverina at the weekend to top off what is described as perfect winter conditions.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Wagga received a 69.2mm drenching for July, which was 15mm above the average.
And so far the yearly rainfall is 361.4 mm, which is 39mm above average.
“This is the best winter and rain we have had for years,” said Bethungra farmer Bill Muller of “Nunlong”.
“It is the first time the dams have been full in seven years,” he said.
“The stock are doing well and you couldn’t ask for a better year.” Nine millimetres fell at the Bethungra cropping and grazing property on the weekend to top off earlier falls.
“It is just great,” he said.
“It is all looking great for spring and we pray the rain keeps coming for us,” he said.
“The way the lamb and cattle prices are, combined with the rain, cockies are pretty happy," Mr Muller said.
