His reasons for shaving his head at the weekend were twofold – he wanted to raise $5000 for SIDS and the hair needed to be gone before his October wedding to Amie White.
Both of these goals were achieved as the final total came in at $5107.75.
About 100 people attended the event, which featured a barbecue and raffle with prizes donated from local businesses.
Mr Buerckner said while he had grown attached to his mullet, he is relieved it is gone.
“I was happy to get rid of it,” he said.
“It’s cold but it’s a lot quicker getting in and out of the shower now.”
Miss White said the couple used to go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner because Mr Buerckner carefully maintained his hair.
Mr Buerckner has already told his soon-to-be wife that he will regrow his hair after the wedding to do another shave for a local charity in the coming years.
Mr Buerckner will donate his hair to Ascot Wigmakers.
