Tom William Meates, who died in a car accident on the Hume Highway near Coolac, has been remembered as a man with a passion for travel, music and rugby league.
Mr Meates was travelling to Wagga with his fiance, Teician Golder, after seeing his beloved Manly Sea Eagles storm home to victory.
He will be farewelled on Thursday at a service at St Kieran’s church at Manly Vale at 12.30pm.
While he had called Manly home, it was Wagga where the next phase of his life was about to take hold, as he readied for his December wedding on the Golder family property at Boree Creek. The duo declared their mutual love on the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, where Mr Meates proposed to Ms Golder.
The Golders are still coming to terms with their loss.
“We were so looking forward to Tom becoming our son,” said Leonie Golder, who is Teician’s mother.
Tributes continue to flow from the rugby league community including the Manly Sea Eagles and Manly Christian Brothers Football Club.
