More than $68,000 has been seized by police after a random breath test at Hay on Monday night.
Just after 9pm, police attached to the Deniliquin Local Area Command conducted a random breath test on the driver of a ute that was stopped a service station on the Sturt Highway in South Hay.
Officers searched the vehicle and uncovered a bag of cash, heat-seal bags and a heat-sealing machine, a statement from NSW Police said.
The 32-year-old front-seat passenger of the ute was arrested after inquiries were conducted by police.
The man was taken to the Hay police station and charged with having goods in custody suspected of being stolen.
He was refused bail and will appear at Deniliquin Local Court today (June 30).
Police are working with Commonwealth immigration officers to determine the man's residency status.
