Seven A grade teams from across different competitions competed in this year’s Challenge Cup, a 14-week competition held on Wednesday nights.
Nixons Engineering claimed the Challenge Cup with a 66-56 victory over Mangoplah at Wagga Christian College’s indoor court.
Mangoplah led early in the contest but Nixons stepped it up in the second half and proved unstoppable.
Melissa Sykes and Lisa Frow’s shooting was spot on, while defenders Sara Schneider and Tracy Schulz-Cole got on top of their Mangoplah opponents.
Ultimately, Nixon’s experience and knowledge prevailed over Mangoplah’s youth and speed.
Sykes was awarded best on court in the final, while Mangoplah’s Clare Vearing took out the Challenge Cup competition best and fairest award.
