Paul Barklem proposed to Ellie Cracknell on one knee at Tathra beach and the couple were later married at the Wagga Boat Club.
The couple surprised 80 guests from Wagga, Wangaratta, Darwin, Sydney, Tathra, Albury and Cobram who thought they were attending their engagement party.
Ellie, the only daughter of Colin and Leanne Cracknell of Wagga, wore a second hand dress from Facebook, a head piece from Brides of Wagga and carried a bouquet made by her best friend and maid of honor, Shannon Yates, of WPA Handmade Gifts and Accessories.
She was walked down the aisle by her father and attended to by her maid of honour, Shannon Yates, and bridesmaid, Mal Fitzgerald, who both wore their own black dresses.
Paul, the youngest son of Bryan and Maureen Barklem of Wagga, was joined by best man, David Hoey, and groomsman, Adam King.
Jaxon Barklem was pageboy for the occasion.
Ellie, an administration assistant and mother, and Paul, a mechanic, have made their home in Wagga.
