Fast flying Eden Smith crossed for four tries as Leeton easily accounted for Cootamundra 64-10 at Laurie Daley Oval on Saturday.
The two teams fought it out for the wooden spoon last year, but the Phantoms have moved to a whole new level this year.
Smith has played in Leeton’s last four wins and made his impact on the wing.
Trailing 45-5 at half-time, the Tri-Colours did step up its defensive effort in the second stanza.
The Phantoms are searching to go through the first round undefeated when they tackle Tumut at No. 1 Oval on Saturday.
