Wagga mayor Rod Kendall has urged calm over the Pine Gully Road debate and says council will wait for a crash investigation to conclude before making upgrades.
The fatal crash occurred on the road two weeks ago and prompted an online petition calling for upgrades and concern from Estella Rise residents over future traffic movements.
Councillor Kendall said it was “extremely important” council wait for the outcome of the crash investigation to “get all the facts on the table”.
“Getting all the facts is extremely important from a council point of view,” he said. “We do not yet know if the road was a contributing factor.”
Cr Kendall also said there was “no doubt” advancing housing estates in the area would put pressure on public infrastructure.
“You would expect there to be an ongoing review as development applications come before council,” he said.
The petition has gathered more than 1100 signatures.
