Following their engagement in December, 2014, the couple planned their wedding for Easter Saturday on April 4.
The short time frame was made following the diagnosis of Kree’s father, Scott, with Stage 4 melanoma.
At the end of February, it became clear that Scott’s condition was worsening and April might be too far away.
So the couple hatched a plan to ensure Scott could attend his middle daughter’s wedding.
They flew Justin’s family from Adelaide and were secretly married on March 3 in an intimate ceremony in the backyard of Kree’s parent’s house at Euberta.
Kree wore a custom made wedding gown by Rose Organ and had Scott walk her down the aisle.
Scott, along with Justin’s mother, Doreen, signed the wedding certificate as witnesses.
Scott passed away just two weeks later on March 17.
The secret wedding was filmed by Cut Above Productions and played as a surprise for their guests at their April wedding, which was held at The Grange, along with a special message from the father-of-the-bride.
There was not a dry eye in the house.
Kree, the middle daughter of Scott and Kim Nash of Euberta, was joined by bridesmaids Sarah Jones, Erin Hulm and Tegan Nash.
Justin, the only son of Doreen Kennedy of Adelaide, was joined by groomsmen Jason Mitchell for the first wedding and Graham Frost, Jimmy Stanfield and James McMahon for the second wedding.
Justin, a trumpet player in the Australian Army Band Kapooka, and Kree, a features journalist for Fairfax Media, will make their home wherever the army takes them.
