Councillor Firman has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to local government and to the community of the Riverina.
“We do what we do because we love it.
“(Receiving the award) makes me want to work harder.
“I love Temora Shire – the fellowships, the friendships, they keep you going.
“I share this with my mother, Mrs Beth Firman, and my dear friend Vicki Oliver, who is also my sales assistant at my store.”
Cr Firman said family had influenced him at a young age to be selfless.
