With captain-coach Matt Hands sitting on the bench to rest some niggling injuries, his 17-year-old brother slotted into the five-eighth role as Tumbarumba proved no match for the high-flying Diesels in the 52-6 loss.
While it was far for from Junee’s best performance of the year, the coach was impressed with how his brother handled the game.
“I thought it was a good chance to give him an opportunity in first grade, he’s been playing well in the 18s and it was a good week to give him a taste of it,” Matt Hands said.
“He did really well, scored a couple (of tries), kicked a few goals and I couldn’t be happier.”
