Continuous artillery duel all day. Our guns centred on the enemy position on the left on a hill which has been called the chessboard on account of the manner of their trenches. Wrote a letter to Mim. We played a trick on the enemy last night by cheering and rattling our bayonets all along the line. It drew their fire.
