The 42-year-old dad followed a growing trend – booked in for gastric sleeve surgery and never looked back.
Wagga surgeon Dr Richard Harrison said he operated on 200 people a year, with 50 per cent of the patients from Wagga.
Dr Harrison performed the life changing surgery on Mr Tadros a year ago – since then he has dropped 44 kilograms and gained a better quality of life.
“I’d tried everything under the sun,” Mr Tadros said.
“I was trying and it was wasn’t working – I’d done Lite n Easy, exercise and appetite suppressors.”
He said the surgery, which removed 80 per cent of his stomach, saw him consume 70 per cent less food and gave him his life back.
Dr Harrison said the surgery continued to be the most effective way for morbidly obese people to reach a healthy weight.
“The National Health and Medical Research Council, Australia’s peak body, say the only way lose weight if you have a BMI of over 41 is through surgery.”
He said most patients lost 50 per cent of their excess body weight after surgery.
