Shooting Stars finished with a wet sail to come from behind to defeat Uranquinty 54-47 in a high-scoring game at Equex on Saturday. Uranquinty led at every break, establishing a six-goal advantage by quarter-time, but the Stars stuck to their task and shortened the margin at half-time to four goals and two at the last change. In a big last quarter performance they they netted 19 goals to 10 to snare the win. The victory enabled them to leap frog Uranquinty into second behind undefeated leaders New Kids Aces. It was an amazing finish for the Stars with young shooters Clare Vearing and Lily Wild piled on the goals, while defenders Jemima Norbury, Brianna Cain and Ruby Gooden were strong, repelling the ball repeatedly into their attacking zone. Michelle Forrell and Jenee West worked well in the centre court, assuring their shooters had plenty to work with. In this week’s round, Shooting Stars will meet the CSU Reddies.
